Choosing the first toothbrush, types of toothbrushes and good choice

Toothbrush has been making our lives easier for centuries. At first, an adapted wooden chewing stick was used, which had to be chewed up first. The first toothbrush with bristles was invented in China in the 15th century. It had a bone or bamboo handle.

From the first tooth

Deciduous teeth care is very important. Their quality influences the health of the permanent teeth. Our dentists will immediately inform you, if they notice any dental caries. We recommend using toothbrushes with silicone bristles for cleaning primary teeth. They can be put on finger for better safety. Toothbrushes for children should be softer so as not to hurt the gums and teeth necks. Toothpaste for small children should always contain calcium, which is beneficial for the development of enamel. At the same time we do not recommend using toothpaste with fluoride. Small children tend to swallow about two thirds of toothpaste during the cleaning.

Choosing the right toothbrush

It is important to remember that the most important thing is the technique. The quality of the toothbrush is not always proportional to its price. It is important for the toothbrush to fit comfortably in your hand and its bristles should not be too hard for your gums. We recommend using a soft toothbrush with a good anatomic shape. Most toothbrushes are now made of plastic. They vary in their shape, design, material and the length of their bristles.

Electric toothbrush

Today everybody can buy an electrical toothbrush for a comfortable and fast tooth cleaning. There are various trends in this area. Electric toothbrushes are easily operated and they usually do several thousands of movements per minute. The movements are either vibrations or rotary movements. Although electric toothbrushes can in general make tooth cleaning easier, their use also requires sensitive and targeted movements of the hand so that all necessary spots are cleaned.
